In the category Infotainment I listed a lot of different films, which, in some way, seemt to be related to the world or the background of Mutant Chronicles. Do you have any ideas or suggestions of other films (or even books), which should be added? And how do you think is it related to MC?

Jin Roh would fit in well in my humble opinion. To summarize the Plot ,this anime is about espionage around some suicide bombings in an alternate 50´s Japan society at the brink of an uprising of a sect. The special Forces, who handle such incidents are heavily armed military persons, who suffer politicaly issues, for handling their business not very subtle. Maybe i should bring this piece of anime some time to our next meetings.

Nobody else has any ideas for the list? Ok, I will update my personal list of films, where I see some analogy to Mutant Chronicles: General: Dark City Sin City Cybertronic: 1984 Terminator Imperial: Rob Roy Brazil Mishima: Cassherm Black Rain Brotherhood: Constantine Dark Legion: Starship Troopers Ghosts of Mars Any further ideas? Which of the mentioned films do you want to see next reviewed in the section Infotainment?

Thanks alot, Aldrien, but if you have a look in the section Infotainment, then you can see that Resident Evil (at least the second part, which is quite bad, but still better than the first) has already a review there.... But maybe you have some other suggestions? Ah, yesss, something I have forgotten for the Dark Legion: The Thing (Das Ding aus einer anderen Welt) by John Carpenter, 1982. Woohoooo, what a great film! PS: it doesnt matter, if the film you mention is good or bad, the only thing is if there is some relationship to Mutant Chronicles.

I have a problem with Bauhaus: I just have two films ( Steiner and Stalingrad) in my mind, but they are too much focused on war. Metropolis is another good example, but it can be interpreted for most, if not all megacorporations. What I want to review is a film which shows more the positive aspects of the bauhausian aristocracy to give newbies a good feeling what Bauhaus looks alike (the general attitude to prussian/french/italian aristocracy is so bad, IMO there is no need to warm it up again). Any ideas? PS: Whoever mentions the Sissy-trilogy here, will be banned forever from this forum.

Thanks for your suggestions. I had the first one ("All Quiet on the Western Front" - this is the english title of the film, both versions from 1930 and 1979) already in my mind. Das Boot is IMHO too much focused on the aspects of this everchanging situation of being hunter and prey, of the horrors of underwater-warfare and the claustrophobic social structures between the men. But it doesnt explain Bauhaus. Its a good film anyway. What I have in mind is more a film about the spirit of Bauhaus, about nobles and aristocracy (but not once again this clichee of some parasitical inbreds or sadistic Krauts) and about the everyday life in Bauhaus. As an example this would be an analog for Imperial: Barry Lyndon.

How about Dune? The Atreides are the best example for good aristocrats in an SciFi setting. And you also have the corrupt malevolent Harkonnen and the plotting of the House of Corinno. I would definitely say they represent a major part of Bauhaus.

Thanks alot for your suggestions - both films can be excellent examples for the bauhausian aristocracy. I had Dune already in my mind when I started the filmlist, although I focused more on the general impression that this film (and books) give - but you are right, it can also be used as a study of an aristocratic system. And Der Rote Baron is also a perfect suggestion, but I have to admit that I have seen this film just for one time and cant remember it so well. But thanks to your idea I will try to get it and watch it again. There is a new version 2007 ?? Wow - do you know anything about it? Well, I still need a film that really shows the everyday life of an (bauhausian) aristocrat (resp. the german/russian/french/italian pendant). Still some ideas?

Many, many thanks, Aldrien, without you I maybe wouldnt have ever heard about this movie - well, I am really looking forward to it. Maybe this can be some kind of masterpiece: first, its not once again about WWII (especially because there the roles since fifty years are still quite clear: the germans are the bad ones, all others are the good heroes). Second its about a mythos, a man, who still has the aura and the nimbus of a pioneer, a knight of the skies, a legend for all pilots (and also for all others). And third its also a critical view on the situation and the society of Prussia, where one of the foundations was laid for the rise of the Nazis. As I said: I hope my anticipations will be fullfilled. But I do want to start a new project: If you have an idea about a film, which (in your opinion) would match with the world of Mutant Chronicles, dont hesitate and post it here - accompanied with a short synopsis and also a short description why you think it fits with MC. Each passage shouldnt be more than a few sentences, maybe with some photos. To set a good example, I will start this project: Content: "During WW1, a small group of English soldiers find themselves in a labyrinth of abandoned German trenches in Deathwatch, a reworking of the classic British supernatural horror tale as a redemptive allegory amid the wider horror of the Great War. The very earth has had its fill of blood and this lost company may already be in hell: imagine the BBC TV film All the Kings Men (1999) crossed with Cube (1997), as realised by a young Ridley Scott. Only Charlie Shakespeare, an impressive Jamie Bell, is sufficiently innocent to realise the evil of the trenches is turning comrade against comrade, resulting in the gradually escalating carnage." (Amazon.co.uk Review)Connection to MC: The british soldiers could also be seen one-to-one as some imperial trenchers. And the influence of Muawijhe is quite obvious, isnt it? (hehehe)

army of the dark would also be a good example representing the dark legion.
