As maybe everyone already knows and as I recently stated in the news, there will be a new game in late spring 2007. Its from Fantasy Flight Games, a very successful company, which developed so wonderful board games like Arkham Horrors, Descent or Runebound, but also Warcraft- the Boardgame or Doom- the Boardgame. Now they got an eye on Mutant Chronicles. I suppose their offer to Paradox was the reason why Excelsior Entertainment lost their license on Warzone.
Now they develop a collectible miniature game. And this is already one point, where I feel like being ripped off. Another game, where I should spend hundreds and hundreds of €uros, just to have exactly the minis I want. For anybody who doesnt know: a collectible miniature game is a system, where you buy boxes without knowing exactly whats inside. In every box they fill in a good mixture of different minis, but always in a sure percentage. There will be common, uncommon, rare and very rare items (the distribution is normally 8:4:2:1). So, if you want to have this one specific very rare mini, you will have to buy a hugh amount of boxes, because it will be sheer luck, if the mini you want is inside or not. And additionally, which makes things even worse, all minis from the different corporations are all mixed up in one box - so you will get lots of minis, which you never wanted or plan to play with. The only help is to exchange them with other players. But I suppose there wont be so many players. To be honest, I am NOT happy about this game and I still dont know if I will even buy it. Angry

I wouldn´t reward this kind of business by buying such products. Years ago i was into trading card games and i soon regret every Cent i spent to get packs of the same boring cards, i already got. It must be a great temptation not to progress this success into other areas of gamings. Game developers don´t read further. Imagine Computergames with collectible Levels.
You don´t know on which DVD you buy a new Item, Dungeon, Ubermonster etc. for your hero will be purchased.
I think this kind of marketing will ruin the Gamebusiness one day when everyone realizes what a rip-off it is.

At last the art-cover of the booster packs are now online:

Well, personally for my taste this looks a little bit to much fantasy-like. Heck, lets wait and see.

The game system (I just have these pictures and I am just interpreting them) seems to be like some wargame system of an old computer game.

What do YOU think of it?
